I do not regret the amount of money I spent but it was a lot. I never wanted to miss out on anything or not experience something because of money. (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? And the directors were always there to help. I never had a health related issue but my friends went to see a doctor and never had to wait. How well were health issues addressed during the program? I met a lot of amazing people that really helped me out. I loved the Culture and experienced new things every day. How integrated did you feel with the local culture?
There was never something I did not like. My mom and host brother cooked amazing food. It was hard not to have all my independence that I have in the States though. Living in a home was great, my host family was amazing. How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? They were great! Couldn't have asked for better program directors. Time was always taken until we understood no matter how long it took. The teachers were great, especially when we didn't understand something. I loved all of my classes and learned a lot. I cannot recommend Carpe Diem enough - especially if you are looking for high quality teaching and want to feel confident with your Spanish - Carpe Diem is the place to go.How much international exposure did you have prior to this program?Īcademic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. Also the school is very centrally located and easy to get to from anywhere in madrid. The teachers have different teaching styles and will rotate the classes on an ad hoc basis that helps to ensure you are challenged and continue to learn in a comfortable environment. I know several other people who have attended classes at Carpe Diem (in groups and 1-2-1 classes) and all of them have had very positive experiences and are very happy with the level of Spanish they have obtained thanks to their classes at Carpe Diem. For me learning a second language is not easy and quite humiliating but the teachers at Carpe Diem are very knowledgeable, encouraging and patient - always making sure you understand the subject and feel at ease. I have been having 1-2-1 classes at Carpe Diem for a couple of years and they are amazing - previously I went to other schools in Madrid that were very average and didn't compare at all with Carpe Diem.
